RECORD BROKE

The White Family Foundation pledged $53 million to rename the undergraduate institute in the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business in September 2022, making it the largest monetary contribution Purdue University has ever received. Named after the late founder of The Foundation and a former Purdue Board of Trustees member, Bruce White, the Undergraduate Institute will educate outstanding business students poised to lead at the intersection of business and technology. This generous donation will play a key role in transforming the undergraduate education at the Daniels School of Business, building on the strengths of the School of Management and Krannert Graduate School.

In 1985, Bruce White, son of Dean White, founded White Lodging with one hotel, turning it into a hospitality giant with the world’s largest JW Marriott. Bruce’s legacy, defined by values of learning and friendship, lives on after his heartfelt passing in 2023. Survived by his wife Beth and children Corinne, Connor, and Patrick, Bruce’s $100 million philanthropic impact endures. Beth White, continuing their shared vision, chairs White Lodging with decisive leadership and a commitment to excellence, blending academia and compassion. The family’s philosophy, “Be a Learner, Be a Leader, Be a Friend,” inspires the next generation, preserving Bruce’s dream of a sustainable, multi-generational family company.
