Honored Veterans

In September of 2022, city officials approved the motion to move forward with the construction of Crown Point Veteran’s Memorial Park at Sauerman Woods. The Memorial will offer a variety of exciting new amenities, including a 10-foot-deep pond with a fountain, green spaces, playground equipment, an open-air pavilion, a walking path, and courts for pickleball and sand volleyball. Additionally, there will be a tribute to veterans in the form of nodes that highlight different war stories, as well as a plaza that recognizes the names of 1,200 Lake County residents who died in both World Wars.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

ONE

The open-air pavilion and picnic areas serve as a space for residents to come together for events, family parties, and social interactions.

TWO

The park provides a wide range of recreational opportunities, including trails for rollerblading, pickleball, and sand volleyball, as well as open spaces and walking paths.

THREE

The new Skate Park provides a space for local youth to engage in non-traditional sports.

FOUR

The Crown Point Veteran Memorial symbolizes the White Family’s commitment to recreation, veterans, and resident well-being.

FIVE

The Memorial provides a space for the community to honor and learn about the historical impact of the 1,200 veterans.

SIX

The Veterans Memorial enhances Crown Point’s quality of life by promoting moments for thoughtful reflection, recreation, and community building.

We really wanted to include everything. I want this to be a destination park. Thank you to Bill Hanna and the Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation for helping us bring another destination amenity to Crown Point. The City of Crown Point would not be the city it is today without your support.”
