The facility totals 95,000 square feet, and its mission aligns with the Foundation’s values of providing access to quality education, enhancing communities, and contributing to the sustainable economic and social wellbeing of Northwest Indiana.
On March 1, 2021, the facility opened its doors to promote health and a greater quality-of-life for residents of all ages. Its features include a gymnasium outfitted with three basketball courts, six volleyball courts, an elevated jogging track, pickleball, a two-story rock-climbing wall, a fitness center, administrative offices, three meeting and event spaces, a multi-functional athletic field, and an outdoor patio.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
ONE
The center is a positive force for the youth in the community, promoting teamwork, reinforcing healthy habits, and developing their social and leadership skills.
TWO
Clubs and programs promote active living for all ages. This includes nutrition classes, summer camps, art classes, yoga, dance, and team sports.
THREE
The center engages residents through safe, inclusive environments, educational opportunities, and cultural activities.
FOUR
The center brings enhances tourism through tournaments and events.
FIVE
The center offers versatile space for weddings, meetings, and educational seminars.
SIX
The center further develops Merrillville’s economic health by enhancing the Broadway Corridor and driving new development and redevelopment opportunities.
