The Crown Point YMCA underwent a 120,000-sq ft building expansion and remodel project totaling $35 million. The Foundation gifted $21 million, making it the Midwest’s largest privately-funded YMCA project. Crossroads YMCA’s mission aligns with the Foundation’s, which includes enhancing communities through access to quality education and offering enjoyable experiences that nurture Northwest Indiana’s development. A few of the facility’s main features include two gymnasiums; an indoor three-lane track; a center for competitive gymnastics; a six-lane pool; and six program studios for cheer, dance, and group exercise. It also has a teaching kitchen, an early-learning center, male and female locker rooms, a zero-entry pool, an L-shaped outdoor pool, a juice and coffee bar, a wellness center focused on cardio, strength and functional training, plentiful space for community gatherings, and much more.
The Crown Point YMCA is undergoing a new $6.5 million expansion project that will be broken up into two parts. The first involves the construction of the new youth center that is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer of 2022. The second will include the addition of two-to-three acres on the east side of the Crown Point YMCA. This project is expected to be completed by late fall of 2022.
